Oh geez, I can totally relate. My mother has a cow every time I visit her. It’s been 8 years, Mom. I’m not dead. She also thinks that cheese is the only thing I eat. I get really … um, stopped up, when I visit. :(

Things I have to do that I wish I didn't:

-Suffer through an endless pile of clutter that never seems to get any smaller
-Look all fancy when I go to work

I am so not in the mood for Halloween this year. I guess I’m extra bummed that summer is over. I’m usually bummed about that anyway, but this year its even worse. I do not want fall to happen!! Pumpkins and shit are pissing me off.

How do you tell someone you can’t stand the sight of them? How do you subtly let them know that, due to past events, you want to puke when they are around? And when they hug you goodbye just a little tighter than necessary, it makes you seethe with rage. Because they get to carry on as though nothing ever happened, and you’re expected to do the same; except, they still like to remind you a lot, in actions laced with subtle conceit, as though they are all you ever think about.

Worst of all, how do you accomplish this while still having to be best friends with someone they’re around constantly?

So my washing machine is broken. This is a terrible blow, because lately I have been striving to simplify, organize, and minimalise. I have a stacking unit: washer on top, dryer on bottom. The washer is broken, and the costs of repair are more than just buying the same unit all over again.

I was forced to venture out into the ghastly world of appliance stores today. This is where salespeople greedily eye you up, trying to guess your spending limit and if you’ll be signing up for a line of credit. Talking to them about the various features of the washers and dryers is a feat in of itself: Forcing myself to politely nod and smile when they tell me about the “steam option” and the “low vibration modulator” is really difficult when all I want to say is “I JUST WANT IT TO WASH MY CLOTHING IN A TIMELY MANNER WITHOUT USING A LOT OF ENERGY.”

I came home empty handed. I don’t think my minimalist mindset is going to help me with appliances. I abhor everything having to do with them: The stores, the salespeople, the shiny chrome and fancy paint jobs, the price tags attached with prices crossed out over and over. It just makes me feel … dirty.

So my cat died today, and two of my friends are bitterly arguing over who was there for me the most: The one who spent an hour with the cat before it died, holding it in a towel and talking gently to him because I was at work and missed his dying by 15 minutes; versus the one who came and buried him for me because I couldn’t bear to see him dead. They almost got in a goddamn fistfight at the bar tonight because the latter is accusing the former of being too much of a sissy to handle the burial. All I know is, when I come home from the bar I usually go out back to check on my cat and pet him and talk to him, and tonight he’s not there.

My cat passed away today. He’s on the right. Rest in peace...
